Ingredients

  • 8 fresh jalapeño peppers halved and seeded
  • 8 oz 225 g cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 slices cooked bacon finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 can 8 oz refrigerated crescent roll dough or puff pastry
  • 16 small edible candy eyes or black olive pieces
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)

Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Step 2: Cut jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove seeds and membranes.
  3. Step 3: In a bowl, mix cream cheese, cheddar, bacon, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until creamy.
  4. Step 4: Spoon the cheese mixture into each jalapeño half.
  5. Step 5: Unroll crescent dough and cut into thin strips (about ¼ inch wide). Wrap each stuffed jalapeño with dough strips, leaving a space for eyes.
  6. Step 6: Brush each with beaten egg.
  7. Step 7: Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Step 8: Cool slightly, then add candy eyes (or small olive pieces) to make your mummies come alive!
