Crockpot Boston Button with BBQ Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 3 –4 lbs Boston butt pork shoulder
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups BBQ sauce store-bought or homemade
  • ½ cup chicken broth or water
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Trim excess fat from the Boston butt, leaving a little for flavor.
  2. Season the pork with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and chili powder.
  3. Place sliced onions and garlic at the bottom of the crockpot.
  4. Put the pork on top of the onions.
  5. Pour in chicken broth and half of the BBQ sauce.
  6. Cover and cook on Low for 8–10 hours or High for 4–6 hours until fork-tender.
  7. Remove pork, shred with two forks, and discard large fat pieces.
  8. Return shredded pork to crockpot and mix in remaining BBQ sauce.
  9. Cook on Low for another 15–20 minutes to absorb flavor.
  10. Serve hot on buns, with slaw, or as a main dish with sides.
