Classic Christmas Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients
  

For the Dough:
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast 2¼ tsp
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • cup sugar
  • cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ tsp salt
For the Filling:
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • tbsp ground cinnamon
  • cup butter softened
For the Frosting:
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • ¼ cup butter softened
  • cups powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 –2 tbsp milk for consistency

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. Dissolve yeast in warm milk with 1 tsp sugar. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add sugar, butter, eggs, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour and knead until soft and elastic (8–10 minutes).
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (1–1.5 hours).
Make the Filling
  1. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll dough into a 16x12-inch rectangle.
  2. Spread butter evenly, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Shape the Rolls
  1. Roll tightly from the long side into a log. Slice into 12 rolls.
  2. Place in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise 30 minutes (or refrigerate overnight).
Bake the Rolls
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown.
Add the Frosting
  1. Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
  2. Spread over warm rolls and serve immediately.
