Step 1: Marinate the Beef
- Slice the beef thinly against the grain.
- Place it in a bowl.
- Add soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and black pepper.
- Mix well.
- Let it rest for 10–15 minutes.
Step 2: Make the Sauce
- In a small bowl, add soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water or beef broth.
- Add red pepper flakes if you like spice.
- Stir until smooth.
- Set aside.
Step 3: Blanch the Broccoli (Optional)
- Boil a small pot of water.
- Add broccoli and cook for 1–2 minutes.
- Drain and put it in cold water to stop cooking.
- Drain again.
Step 4: Cook the Beef
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large pan or wok over high heat.
- Add the beef in one layer.
- Cook for 2–3 minutes until browned.
- Remove and set aside.
Step 5: Stir Fry the Vegetables
- Add the remaining oil to the pan.
- Add sliced onion. Stir for 1–2 minutes.
- Add garlic, ginger, and broccoli.
- Cook for 3–4 minutes until broccoli is crisp but tender.
Step 6: Combine Everything
- Return the beef to the pan.
- Pour in the sauce.
- Stir well until everything is coated.
- Cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Step 7: Serve
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions.
- Serve hot with rice or noodles.
